Do you know how diverse the nature in your schoolyard is? Let’s explore it together and find ways to protect and enhance biodiversity!
BioRedo is a research and innovation project developed by students from the TechExplorers robotics team in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, as part of the 2026–2027 season of the international FIRST LEGO League Challenge, BIOGLOW.
An international project in which students explore and improve biodiversity in their own schoolyards.
A method for observing, measuring, and improving biodiversity.
A digital platform that allows schools to collect and analyze biodiversity data and receive recommendations for improvement.
Each school has its own dashboard to track changes in biodiversity from the initial assessment to the present day.
It gives students the opportunity to understand the importance of biodiversity, learn through research, and actively contribute to its protection, both now and in the long term.
Students gain experience applying biology, ecology, mathematics, and technology.
It connects schools to an international community where students and teachers collaborate, share ideas, and learn from one another.
Through hands-on activities and teamwork, students discover the importance of biodiversity, the threats it faces, and how they can protect and enhance it within their own school.
We ask ourselves an important question: What can we do to improve biodiversity, and how can we demonstrate that our actions make a difference?
Observe → Measure → Understand → Implement → Restore → Measure Again
TechExplorers provides schools with guides, tutorials, measurement protocols, and the BioRedo digital platform.
Guided by a supervising teacher, students collect data on biodiversity in their schoolyard and enter it into the platform. BioRedo automatically analyzes the data and provides personalized recommendations for improving biodiversity.
Each school chooses which recommendations to implement and then repeats the measurements periodically. Through its own dashboard, each school tracks its progress compared to the initial assessment.
Together, we can do more for biodiversity!
We are looking for partner schools to join the BioRedo pilot phase and help us test and develop the project.
Be among the first schools to lay the foundations for an international community of students and teachers dedicated to researching and protecting biodiversity!
A coordinating teacher and a group of interested students, regardless of age or grade.
Observing and assessing biodiversity in the schoolyard.
Testing BioRedo tools and providing feedback.
The opportunity to implement small-scale ecological improvements.
A large schoolyard or a specially designed garden is not required. We welcome schools with different types of outdoor spaces, including those with limited green areas.
Activities will be planned together with the participating teachers.
Be one of the teachers helping to develop an educational project that could reach schools around the world!
